A weekend of motorcycling, mountain biking, and volunteer trail work at Mount Constitution State Park on Orcas Island.
Motorcycling
My first motorcycle was a 2008 Kawasaki KLR650. It was a friendly ‘starter’ bike, albeit one of the ugliest on the planet. I now ride a 2014 Suzuki V Strom 650 (‘Wee Strom’), with Jesse cases, which is much better for Puget Sound commuting.
Different Day. Different Kind of Maintenance

Mountain Biking Mt. St. Helens

Ape Canyon at Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument is one of my favorite mountain bike trails in Washington (and easily one of the top ten mountain bike trails in the nation). Start early so that you can continue riding the Plains of Abraham all the way to Windy Ridge. Siouxon Creek, a.k.a. the Ewok Forest, is another one of my favorite trails in the nearby Mount Adams Ranger District.
Second (to None) Beach

Jen and I just returned from a motorcycle-camping trip to the Olympic Coast with our friend Scott. With only a two-mile approach, this small Wilderness beach is easy to access. And it’s often less crowded than First and Third Beaches.
Mmm, Beer and Donuts

Biking home from Santa Rosa, a stopover in Newport, OR – home of the notorious Voodoo Doughnut-inspired Bacon Maple Ale!
